Lena, age 7: "What is Memorial Day even for?"
Me: "It's for remembering anyone who has died who has also served our country in uniform—all the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen."
Lena: "Like Nathan's dad?"
Me (surprised): "Yes ... Like Nathan's dad."
